Touch
Series of sculptures by Jasmine Reimer featuring hands and fingers

In this experimental video, made during a residency in Berlin, I explore and attempt to dissolve the limitations between subject and object. By painting my left hand green and disguising my right hand as a domestic cleaning tool, I create the conditions for a first-time encounter. As if approaching a strange life-form, the hands move in fear, cautious of each other’s differences and their perceived danger. However, after only a few moments, and a tentative touch, the hands recognize an unexpected familiarity and are overwhelmingly attracted to each other.
